Technical Writer / Editor

The Editor Writer will provide intensive copy-editing and content editing of provided inspection notes/materials. Candidate will work as part of a team in the production of top quality inspection reports for our clients. The selected candidate will be involved in all aspects of the editorial workflow to ensure the following: report effectiveness, consistency, accuracy, legal acceptability, accreditation adherence, and appropriate realization of the original intent of the work.
Candidates will be required to complete a writing assignment and grammar test to be considered for this position.
Position is full-time, Mon-Fri, 8:30 am - 5:00pm. Office located in Wildwood, FL
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Use supplied notes from field staff to create reports utilizing existing report templates.
Substantive Editing: Identify and solve problems of overall clarity or accuracy in inspection materials; reorganize paragraphs, sections, or pictures/diagrams to improve the order in which the text is presented; write or rewrite segments of text to improve readability and flow of information; coordinate with the inspectors and upper management for the design, layout, and illustration of each report; revise any or all aspects of the text to improve its presentation. Adhere to editorial and workflow procedures set for project types.
Quality Control: Correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, and word usage; check for or establish a consistent style and format; proofread for errors in content: copy, diagrams, and design.
Research: Query and consult with others about issues of concern; crosscheck references, diagrams, figures, tables, equations, and other features; ensure the correct verbiage is being referenced in regards to specific construction content.
Admin: Maintain appropriate project files and folders, contribute to ongoing development of departmental procedures and house style, participate in meetings related to schedules and workflow, develop and maintain client relationships with insurance adjusters, restoration companies, and the like.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including proofreading and editing for grammar and punctuation, and production editorial skills
Ability to understand and improve technical material
Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask while working independently and collaboratively with inspectors, management, and other office staff
Ability to interact professionally and constructively with clients and staff at all levels in an immersive, fast-paced environment
Education and/or
Experience:
Associates degree preferably in English or Writing and two years editing and/or report creation/writing experience.
Skills:
Proficiency using software programs such as MS Word, Excel, Keynote/PowerPoint and Outlook
Basic knowledge of production processes
Good organizational and time-management skills
Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:
Work is performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to maintain employee communication; access, input and retrieve information from the computer system. May be subject to; bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
